Rod Gardner is a former professional American football player who was born on October 26, 1977, in Jacksonville, Florida. He played as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). Gardner attended Clemson University, where he had a successful college football career.
In the 2001 NFL Draft, Gardner was selected in the first round, 15th overall, by the Washington Redskins. During his time with the Redskins, Gardner showed early promise and had some productive seasons. His rookie year was particularly noteworthy, as he made an immediate impact with the team.
Gardner played the majority of his career with the Redskins from 2001 to 2004. Afterward, he had brief stints with other NFL teams, including the Carolina Panthers (2005), Green Bay Packers (2005), and Kansas City Chiefs (2006).
Throughout his NFL career, Gardner was known for his size and ability to make tough catches, although he sometimes struggled with consistency. After leaving the NFL, Gardner faded from the spotlight, and little is publicly known about his post-football endeavors.
